NameLeipzig
General informationThe name Leipzig originates from the word for lime tree "Lipa". This tree is a main feature of the city even today. With its cultural treasurers and great history, Leipzig is one of the most fascinating cities in Germany. The great former wealth of the city can still be seen today in the many magnificent buildings. Leipzig is also famous for its exhibitions, bringing international business to the city. Nowadays, it is fun to stroll through the city and enjoy the many bistros and bars or simply admire this centre of cultural life.
Studying conditionsConfirmed in 1409 by Pope Alexander V, the university was established and is now one of the oldest universities in Europe. The dental faculty in Leipzig is also one of the oldest in Germany. Since the end of the 19th Century, students have been taught how to preserve teeth rather than remove them-which was quite a step forward in teaching in those days! The average course of study is about 5 years. The university has excellent technical equipment and can guarantee the best-possible education in dentistry.
