NameDusseldorf
General informationDuesseldorf has much more to offer than fashion and exhibitions: nicknamed the "Koe", Duesseldorf's Koenigsallee is one of the most beautiful and elegant shopping boulevards in the world: the catwalk of modern fashion trends. One can enjoy a stroll in front of interesting people sitting on the cafe´ terraces under the chestnut trees. Duesseldorf is famous as a city of short distances: the Old Town is directly beside the "Koe". It is known as "the longest bar in the world" with its 200 ethnic pubs and cosy breweries. However, this area of one square kilometre has much more to offer: world-famous museums like the art collection of Nordrhein-Westfalen. You can find history walking in the footsteps of Barbarossa to the middle-aged ruins of his palace.
Studying conditionsThe Heinrich-Heine University stems from a long tradition which has gained an international reputation in every area. The medical college became the University of Duesseldorf in 1965. After a lot of effort, the university was named after Heinrich Heine (1797-1856). The discussions about the naming were mainly about the goals of university politics and attracted world-wide attention. Special importance was attached to first-class, excellent teaching. Whoever decides to do his practical training in the university will not only gain insight into the doctor's surgery but will also be able to enjoy a great everyday university life.
