| Studying conditions | The Heinrich-Heine University stems from a long tradition which has gained an international reputation in every area. The medical college became the University of Duesseldorf in 1965. After a lot of effort, the university was named after Heinrich Heine (1797-1856). The discussions about the naming were mainly about the goals of university politics and attracted world-wide attention. Special importance was attached to first-class, excellent teaching.
