General informationMarburg is located in the heart of Hessen, surrounded by historical countryside. The town itself is relatively small with around 75,000 inhabitants and it is therefore easy for visitors to feel at home. This university town has a real mixture of old and new with its historical Old Town and modern architecture. Much thought was put into redeveloping and modernising the town. One can never be bored in Marburg: there is something to be found for everyone in the numerous bistros and pubs in the Old Town!
Studying conditionsThe Landgrave Philipp the Brave was the founder of the first protestant university in Marburg during the reformation in 1527. Since then it has been the most important economic factor for the town, even to the present day. It is due to the university and its famous professors that Marburg rose in importance. The dental faculty is famous for its purposeful and sound teaching. The university has a sufficient supply of modern technical equipment. In addition to this, there are also many activities available to compliment the teaching programme and ensure that Marburg offers its students the highest possible standard.
