NameHamburg
General informationThis international, cosmopolitan city is one of the largest in Germany. The city's atmosphere is strongly influenced by its location on the River Elbe and its harbour, which is the second largest in Europe. Parks and water are important features in the city. Hamburg is also known for wonderful shopping sprees as well as many different kinds of leisure activities, such as sailing on the Aussenalster in summer. There are certainly enough culture and culinary delights to suit every taste.
Studying conditionsThe University of Hamburg is one of the youngest in Germany and was founded in 1919. It is, however, the second largest in the country with 68,000 students. The dental faculty is located in the city centre. The cosmopolitan mentality of the Hamburg inhabitants strongly influences its university education: current topics have as much place in a course of study as the teaching of theory and practice. As a result, numerous guest lecturers and international conferences are organised to enhance research topics and, in turn, teach young dental students much more than their necessary professional qualifications
