The town is famous for the picturesque fishing-village called Wieck, which boasts a one hundred year old wooden bridge. Famous painters like Caspar David Friedrich have been greatly inspired by the scenic countryside surrounding Greifswald and have immortalised their impressions in atmospheric paintings. Water sports are particularly popular pastimes in this area. The best time to stay in Greifswald is between May and July. |

It is also the smallest in the country with only 5,000 students, which means a closer professor/student relationship.
