General informationMainz is both a traditional and a progressive town. The main town of Rheinland-Pfalz has a history of 2000 years but has managed to remain young and lively. Although one could once run into Romans, Kaiser Barbarossa, the bible printer Gutenberg or electoral princes, Mainz is nowadays a beautiful home for all kinds of people and businesses. This modern town is proud of its cosmopolitan, social image which is reflected in the traditional "Fastnacht". In addition to this, Mainz is a very important economic and media town as the home of ZDF and Sat 1 (German TV stations).
Studying conditionsThe university of Mainz was established in the 15th Century. The medical and dental faculty of Mainz University boasts excellent teaching and research facilities. The main emphasis is on experimental dentistry. Several medical conferences take place in Mainz every year where the heads of research meet to exchange the latest trends and findings. The young dental students can certainly benefit from such excellence in theoretical research as well as practical teaching.
