NameHeidelberg
General informationHeidelberg is a fascinating town in the midst of beautiful countryside. The famous, old castle serves as one of the main attractions for a great number of tourists visiting the town every year. The typical red brick houses and historic Old Town lend this 800 year old town its special flair. However, Heidelberg has many different faces to be discovered during a visit to the town: the romantic town, the modern town of science and technology, the traditional university town, the international town, the exciting cultural town or the fun town with its high standard of living and working.
Studying conditionsHeidelberg is the oldest university in Germany, established in 1386. Many famous people have studied here, such as Johann Wolfgang von Goethe and numerous Nobel prize winners. The university boasts excellent organisation and administration and a world-wide reputation for its research. The dental faculty is affiliated to the so-called "Head-clinic" and offers everything a student could desire: several excellent canteens, good libraries, lots of sports and cheap student residences. At the moment, about 500 students are studying dentistry in Heidelberg. It is possible to do an exchange at any time of the year, although we would recommend a stay in summer.
