About us
Run by students
The dental student exchange service (ZAD) was founded in 1981 and has been run by students ever since. The head office of our association is located in Bonn. All administrative work there is done by our colleague Doris Bungartz. In addition to that there are local exchange officers (leos) at nearly every German university with a dental department, who help students from abroad to find their way around.
What we do
We help young German dental students to spend some professional time abroad and advise them how to go about planning and realizing their stay. We also help foreign students to spend time at a German university. In cooperation with our partners we offer students the chance to gather some practical experience in international dental help projects as well as experiencing dentistry at foreign faculties.
How we support you
In cooperation with DAAD (German Academic Exchange service) we may also help you to finance your stay abroad or in Germany. For foreign students and those who have recently finished their course we help find an apprenticeship place at a German university. If you meet certain requirements there is also a chance to receive funds for accomodation and food.
International cooperation
On an international level we cooperate with the International Association of Dental Students (IADS). We are part of a network that promotes the exchange of young academics worldwide.
Doing good
Ever since the dental student exchange service was founded in 1981 numerous members have committed themselves to making our exchange acitivities work successfully. By extending our acitivities in developing world countries where we help to build and run local dental units we also got involved in charitable work serving the public well.
